Thursday kicks off round four of the Betfred Super League as Salford Red Devils host St Helens. The Saints will look to continue their unbeaten streak, buoyed by their home win against Leeds Rhinos last week. Salford come off the back of a narrow win against Hull KR and have only lost to Leeds so far this season but will expect a hard-fought game from the Saints.
Friday’s double header sees Hull KR head to Castleford to take on the Tigers, whilst Leeds Rhinos entertain Wakefield at Headingley.
Castleford are currently top of the table after big wins against the Broncos, Hull FC and Catalans Dragons, but with eight first team players side-lined from their last game, plus an injured Adam Milner, head coach Daryl Powell will hope his remaining players can keep up this momentum. Hull KR started their season well, winning the Hull derby, but have won only one of their other three league fixtures.
The last time Wakefield and Leeds came head to head was in July last year, culminating in a draw. Both teams have only won one game so far this season, and Leeds are aiming to kickstart their season and return to the form of a couple of years ago.
Catalans Dragons face Warrington Wolves in Saturday’s only game. 2018 runners-up Warrington are currently second in the league table, only separated from Castleford by points difference. Catalans will be looking to draw upon the kind of performance they produced in last year’s memorable Coral Challenge Cup Final.
Sunday sees another double header, this time as Hull FC go to battle at Huddersfield, while the London Broncos welcome Wigan Warriors.
The Giants dismantled Hull in their last meeting in last year’s Super 8s with a dominant 26-6 win but have lost all their games in the first three rounds of this season. Hull FC will come into the game after a nail-biting 23-22 victory against reigning champions Wigan, sealed by a drop goal from scrum-half Marc Sneyd in extra time.
Wigan’s only win has come against a struggling Leeds outfit, while the Broncos started their season well having secured a big win against Wakefield but have stumbled since.
